Often the results of a scientific project struggles to step outside the limits of the laboratory. That prevents the impact of the discovery in society and put down the return on investment. In our collaboration with Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, we wanted to sort out this wall applying a creative media solution to FATE Competitiveness & Innovation Framework Programme
Breaking with the technical language surrounding the communication of a scientific project is not an easy job. We had to show, exciting and entertaining way, the result of many months of work and to value the real benefit of using a new technology.
Performers & Pracmatic‘s filming crew
We decided to use film language, rarely used in scientific communication. To generate an everyday atmosphere, we use actors in the flesh, making a casting with about 30 elder participants in Aula de Personas Mayores de la UGR. The location chosen for the shoot was the magical Playa de Velilla (Almuñecar), sited in Andalusian coast. Al the shooting was made in about 5h.

Again, we use psychology know-how to approach to the script. The plot combines a realistic narrative backbone, mixed with an undercurrent of symbolic images. This allows the viewer to experience live 2 to 1. The outer-conscious (reaching affectively in a familiar and warm setting) and inner-unconscious (identifying with the hero’s journey and transformation).
The main character, Eustoquio, Andalusian artist
The story highlights the contrast between fear generated by the appearance of a new technology and change their use is in the daily lives of people and their environment. A context-spun loaded images and suggestive narrative time, for the viewer, as always, add the last word.
With imagination Pracmatic production team and stakeholder support, excellent work is done, making the most of a tight budget. The film is presented in Rome (Italy), in internal policy meeting of the FATE project, receiving rave reviews by both coordinators, and the supervisory committee.

While the spot is broadcast online media, it is proposed to the committee a proposal for continuation of the campaign, with the aim of reaching the public most, in an agile and this spot the starting point. We hope to give news about it soon, as contrasted benefits of this new Detector de Caídas Portatil para la Gente Mayor, deserve special attention and monitoring.
